In-Game Description (GoF2)

The Aegir is the Nivelian's flagship vessel. It is perfection, elegance and power all rolled into one. It is not a cheap ship by any means, but is highly sought after by a lot of pilots across the galaxy.

In-Game Description (GoF3)

The Nivelian flagship vessel. A focus on perfection, elegance and power. It manages to do all three pretty well. It can be hard to maintain. Takes a lot of effort to get the upkeep just right. Still, the high quality of the ship makes it well sought after by pilots across the galaxy.

Characteristics

This ship is typical of Nivelian design; a cockpit with two, large, flanking "wings" or "fins" attached on either side. The Aegir is one of the three, non-easter egg, ultimate ships, along with the Veteran and the Mantis. This ship is better than the Veteran in some respects, as it has four primary weapon slots in comparison with the Veteran's three (and one turret), but sacrifices a valuable equipment slot. Those looking to find an excellent ship with great offensive and defensive capabilities combined with smooth elegance, look no further.

Trivia

  • Aegir is the ship seen in the Galaxy on Fire 2 and 3's app icon.
  • The Kinzer's original design in the Java game was used as the basis for the Aegir in the iOS version of GoF2.
  • This is oddly not the agilest of the ultimate ships, being less agile than the VoidX and the Mantis.
    Thumbyimage
  • The one on the app icon for GoF2 only has 2 thrusts, while the in-game one has 3 thrusts. However, in GoF3, the third thrust is seen.
  • The place where the app icon with the Aegir on is located in Dis, Magnetar
  • Aegir is a Scandinavian sea god.
  • The Aegir is used as the Nivelian fighter MK II in Galaxy on Fire: Alliances.
  • This Starship has a similar design to the Specter and the Ghost.
  • The Aegir bears a resemblance to the Vic Viper in Gradius.
  • Aegir is the name of a sea giant, god of the ocean and king of the sea creatures in Norse mythology.
  • The ship descriptions for GoF2 and GoF3 are very similar.
  • This is one of the two Nivelian ships that have four secondary weapons.
