The Edo is a guided missile with the ability to track targets.

In-Game Description[]

Missiles follow their trajectory until they hit a target or run out of fuel. The Edo guided missile is similar to the unguided Jet Rocket, though somewhat slower.

Characteristics[]

Missiles behave very much like rockets, flying straight until it hits a target or it runs out of fuel. However, with the help of a scanner, locking onto a target will send the missile in its direction. If a player locks onto a different target while a missile is already heading towards another, it will redirect itself towards the new target and reduce its range.

The Edo, being the most affordable missile in the game, offers very basic combat capabilities. Its 3.3 kilometre range limits it to mid-range fighting while its speed takes some to reach its targets. In the middle of large fights, accidentally locking onto other targets can be a significant problem for the Edo, as each redirection reduces its range further and further. Fortunately, its price and low loading speed—lowest of all missiles—means that any lost missiles can be easily replaced by one or two more.

The appeal of missiles to new players is exposed immediately in the tutorial fight in the Dareius Asteroid Belt. The Phantom Keith piloted was equipped with six Edo missiles to serve as an introduction to the operation of secondary weapons.

Trivia[]

  • The name of this missile is shared with the old name for Tokyo, Japan.
  • The missile looks like a torpedo with fins at the front
