Characteristics[]

The Hernstein is a rock-solid ship. With a massive cargo bay, heavy armor, and 8 equipment slots, this pirate ship can take heavy punishment while still delivering a great amount of cargo to any station. Its average weapon capabilities are augmented by the ability to install a turret, which gives it the same amount of weapons as the Azov. The Hernstein's main drawback is its handling - a ship this large is not very maneuverable. An excellent ship to use for smuggling purposes, and can still put up a good fight when you have to. However it is slightly overpriced, being more expensive than the Groza, and yet having less equipment slots, handling, and primary and secondary weapons slots. If you do not mind the lack of a turret slot and/or do not have automatic turrets from the Valkyrie add-on, the Groza is a better ship for you.

Trivia[]

  • Hernstein is a town in Lower Austria.
  • The Hernstein slightly resembles the OV-10 Bronco close air support fighter or P-38 Lightning.
  • The Hernstein resembles a modified  Anaan.
  • A marking in the rear closely resembles the symbol of the Nivelian Republic.
  • It is one of the only 3 ships that has an "arch" or "spoiler" on the back, the other 2 being the Salvéhn and the Hector.
  • It appears to have a gatling gun on each side of the wings, which may be a preinstalled Micro Gun MKII, it also somewhat looks like an GAU-8 Avenger gatling gun.
  • This is the Pirate ship that has the highest cargo hold, which makes it reliable for trading and combat, before the player has enough credits to purchase the Rhino.
