Terran Proteus Frigate

This article includes spoilers for Galaxy on Fire 3: Manitcore.

The Terran Frigates are large vessels seen occasonaly inGalaxy on Fire 3: Manticore.

At this time, there is not much information about this capital ship other than it appears to be a frigate. In the concept art for GOF 3 Manticore, the ship is refered to as the Proteus frigate. This ship is also the first official frigate that appears in the Terran Space Fleet and also appears in game itself.

Appearances

The Proteus Frigate is first seen in Galaxy on Fire 3: Manticore and appears in the opening cinematic of the game escorting a fleet of ships towards a planet. A number of frigates can also be found docked at the station where the Noex Conference was being held and two more also assist the player in escorting the Terran diplomat Alexander Tork-Turrington the conference. However

they and the ones docked were subsequently destroyed as a result of The Shattering. Many more Proteus frigates can be found on various missions in the game such as when the player needs to defend them from Pirates whilst they evacuate damaged stations. In this case the frigates do appear to be damaged which is most likely due to battle scaring. The frigates here unlike the previous ones encountered are not armed.

Little is known about the strengths and weaknesses of this vessel due to the fact that they cannot be destroyed in game by the player. In terms of armament the ships weapons seem similar to the scatter guns used in Galaxy on Fire 2.

Trivia

• In some concept art pictures these Frigates are referred to as Terran Frigates. Whether or not this is the actual name for this ship is unclear.
• Two of these played the role of freighters in the mission you face Rkkt Bkkt and are required to be scanned. Another one is also being seen serving Khador when he was defeated by the Manticore squad.
• Proteus is the name of a deity from Greek mythology who was the protector of the seas, rivers and other bodies of water. He was also refered to the Old man of the Sea.
